A fall. A hospital stay. A community that can hold an apartment for three weeks. And suddenly you're running a move you never planned, next to your job, your own family, and often from another city. Parent Move Plan exists for exactly those weeks.
What those weeks really look like
It's 11 p.m. and you have twelve tabs open: checklists, directories, a pricing page that asks for your phone number. The discharge planner said "soon." Your brother says to let him know if you need anything. Your sister is waiting for you to decide.
Somewhere in all of it is your mom or dad, who didn't ask for any of this and may be afraid of leaving the home they've lived in for decades.
You are not alone in this. About 63 million Americans care for a family member (AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving, 2025). Most of them are handed advice. Very few are handed a plan.
Good advice exists. A plan with dates didn't.
The free guidance families find first is careful and useful. AARP, A Place for Mom, Seniorly, the Family Caregiver Alliance and NASMM all publish good checklists, and we link to them in our guides.
But a checklist can't tell you what to do on Tuesday. It doesn't know that the move is in 34 days, that your brother lives three states away, or that the doctor's forms can take a week to come back. When we compared what's out there, we couldn't find a day-by-day plan for a move that has to happen in 30 to 60 days, a fair way to split the work between siblings, or one sheet the whole family can work in.
So that's what we built. One plan that turns a mountain of advice into a single question, answered every day: what do we do today, and who does it?

Dates
A date on every task
A list tells you what. A plan tells you when. Enter the move-in date once, and each of the 79 tasks gets a real date. Short on time? The early weeks compress; the last week before the move never does.
Fairness
Work shared in hours
Often one sibling ends up carrying most of the move. We measure the work in hours, mark what needs someone on site, and give siblings far away real jobs instead of guilt.

Day 2 asks your parent what matters most in a new home, in their own words. On the comparison sheet, their reaction to a community has the highest weight.
How the plan was made
- In line with public guidance. The tasks match the practical advice published by AARP, NASMM and the Family Caregiver Alliance (measure the new space, sort room by room, read the agreement before signing) and answer the questions caregivers raise most often in public forums: a move on short notice, siblings sharing the work, clearing the house.
- Only what an organizer should say. Every task tells you to ask, find, schedule or write down. Anything legal, medical or financial goes to the right professional, and the plan tells you when.
- Checked before release. Every formula in the sheets was recalculated with sample data: dates, the 30-day compression, the fair-share hours and the comparison scores.
- Every number has a source. Figures on this site link to where they come from. If we can't source it, we don't say it.
How we earn money
Only by selling the plan, once, for $39 or $97. No subscription.
We are not a placement or referral service. We receive no money from any assisted living community, we don't sell or share your information, and we don't show ads. That's why the plan can tell you to tour several places, read the agreement at home, and check inspection reports before you sign anything.
